Air Pollution – The Silent Killer?

In recent weeks, there has been mass media coverage regarding London’s air quality. London Mayor Boris Johnson has signalled intent to restrict diesel cars in London and announced that an Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) will be launched in 2020. Earlier this year, Britain was warned it will face fines of up to a staggering £300m per year for breaching EU air quality standards. Add to this, that air pollution contributes to as many as 4,000 deaths in London each year and we have a serious problem.

Aside from the obvious, yet somewhat improbable, solution of banning all vehicles from our cities it is important to be able to measure air quality to understand the severity of the challenge we all face. For this reason CBRE has recently partnered with Change London to help lead its AirSensa Network.
